Citadel of Victory, Legacy and Milestones

The work was birthed from our Highglen Church under the leadership of Pastor A T Gore in August 2016. We applied for the Church stand in August 2016 and the process took us ten months. In July 2017 we were granted the lease of this stand and we started building the temporary structures with funding from Glad Tidings Highglen.

Pastor Tears Garaneunga was then assigned the pastorate of the Church. I then chose a planting team comprising of Mr & Mrs Mashoko, Mr & Mrs Matandani, Mr & Mrs Maposa, Mr & Mrs Mudangwe, Brother Tonderai Mutirwara, and Brother Lawrence Sasa. Mr & Mrs Munapo joined the team a few weeks after the planting of the Church for they felt the calling of God to come and be part of the team that would establish the work in Budiriro.

The church planting team went through seasons of serious prayer and fasting and diligent planning for the work. In the month of August 2017, with the help of brethren at our Highglen Church, we began door to door witnessing and heralding of the coming church in the Cabs area and the surrounding communities. From the 4th to the 9th of September we held daily crusades from 6 PM to 8 PM. The Lord was faithful in directing his flock as more than 270 people responded to the gospel. On the 10th of September 2017 was the official launch of our local church.

We are still a baby, but surely we are growing and we have fire and love kindled in our bones.

The vision of Glad Tidings Fellowship Church was given to Pastor Richmond Chiundiza who at that time was a Pastor with Christian Life Center Harare where he was working with Pastor Steve Bacon. Then Pastor Chiundiza was also National Director of Campus Crusade for Christ in Zimbabwe. To spearhead the vision Pastor Chiundiza chose four men he would work with who came to be called DISCIPLES IN ACTION.

In 1982 Pastor Chiundiza put this vision into action and started Glad Tidings Fellowship meeting at Highfield Secondary School in Harare. A few handful people met in the School Hall on Sunday afternoons from August 1982. The work grew very rapidly through evangelism (witnessing and discipleship) in the township under Richmond Chiundiza's pastoral care and preaching. A few local churches were planted including, Warren Park, Dzivaresekwa, Glendale and Kadoma.

In 1986 a Harare wide outreach plan dubbed "Action 86" was launched and several local churches were planted and outreaches were done all over Harare and spilled over to other Cities and towns. By end of 1990 churches had been planted in Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare, Masvingo. Today the denomination has many local churches including over 50 in Harare, Bulawayo 4, Gweru 3, Mutare 4, and every town in Zimbabwe except Hwange and Gwanda. There are also many local churches in the Rural areas all over Zimbabwe.

Outside Zimbabwe Glad Tidings is in South Africa with 6 congregations, the United Kingdom and Botswana, Malawi and Zambia. Disciples in Action Team is the apostolic, governing and leading board of all Glad Tidings Fellowship Churches. The Board is comprised of Pastor Richmond Chiundiza (Belvedere), Pastor Andrew T. Gore in Highfield (Highglen), Pastor Durajadi Simba (Mufakose), Pastor George Kaseke (Dzivarasekwa).

This board used resources out of their private incomes to fund the church in its embryonic stages. Though we practice the system of Local Church autonomy, every local church submits to the governing authority of DISCIPLES IN ACTION BOARD.
